The Vision That Built SDA

It all started over 60 years ago with a simple observation. Our founder, Julie, saw a critical gap in the retail supply chain. While manufacturers were promoting new products, local variety stores in the New York marketplace struggled to get those goods onto their shelves reliably.

Starting with just a few vans making daily deliveries, Julie’s commitment to "The Source & The Solution" fueled rapid expansion. What began as a small selection of trending items quickly grew into a comprehensive inventory of thousands of Health & Beauty Care products.

As the retail landscape evolved, so did we. In our early years, SDA was the backbone for iconic mass-merchandisers like Alexander's, J. W. Mays, and E.J. Korvettes. When the market shifted toward convenience and specialized retail, we refocused our expertise on supermarkets, drug stores, and university bookstores.

Today, under the leadership of Terry Feinberg, we continue to champion the independent retailer. We believe that in a world of overwhelming "superstores," the personal touch of a family-owned distributor is more valuable than ever.
